An Afro-American man suffering from dental pain.

An infection deep inside a tooth is a serious condition. Not only can it be painful, but it may also jeopardize the tooth. Infected teeth need treatment to save them from extraction. Root canal therapy is the only treatment that can fix severely infected teeth, stopping the pain and rescuing the tooth from loss. At Johns Creek Dental Studio, we offer root canal therapy for infected teeth at our dental center in Alpharetta, GA.

The interior of teeth includes the root or roots that connect to the jaw bone. Teeth have between one and four roots – front teeth may only have one root while molars have 3-4 roots. The canals inside the roots have nerve roots and pulp that are live tissue. If decay or infection reaches the interior of the tooth, the inflammation can press on the nerve roots, causing tooth pain. The infection can also damage the nerve, resulting in a dead tooth. Root canal therapy is used to remove the infected live tissue inside the tooth canals to stop the infection and pain while saving the tooth.

Root Canals Offers Pain Relief for Infected Teeth!

A root canal is a complex endodontic surgery that removes the pulp and nerve root from inside the canals in infected teeth. The top of the tooth is removed to access the root canals, and the canals are thoroughly cleaned of infected tissue. Once the canal is cleared of infection, it is repacked with sterilized material and the tooth is sealed. The removal of tooth material can weaken the tooth, so a dental crown is often recommended to protect the tooth after root canal therapy.

Root canals can stop the pain of infected teeth immediately. Once the nerve root is removed, the signal of pain is eliminated. While the tooth may be a little sore for a few days from the procedure, the intense pain from tooth infection will be gone. Plus, removing the infection can prevent tooth loss and preserve your complete smile.

If you have a severely infected tooth, root canal therapy may be the best solution to stop the pain and save your tooth. Contact us at Johns Creek Dental Studio to schedule a dental exam or root canal treatment. Call our office in Alpharetta, GA, to book your appointment.

What Our Happy Patients Say

Sam S.

The staff is so incredible here! They got me the care I needed very quickly, and they answered all my questions about my procedure and aftercare. They also showed me pictures of my teeth, so I could have visuals to know exactly what concerns they were talking about before my procedure. 10/10 will be back for all my dental needs!

Milan P.

This is hands down the best dentist I have ever been too. I can’t express how grateful I am with all the staff and Dr. Parikh. Dr. Parikh and the treatment coordinator, whose name is also Milan(!!) always took the time to explain all the treatment I needed. I will most definitely return and recommend this office to all of my friends and family!

Christina N.

I had to have a root canal and deep cleaning, all the doctor's and staff are so kind and patient with me. I do suffer a little anxiety going to the dentist and being 67 years of age I have had my share of different dentist. But I must say they are the best. Makes me wonder about the service i have been getting over the years from other dentist

Elizabeth D.

Very nice staff and Dr. Parikh was great. Explained everything thoroughly to me. Dentists visits are never comfortable but Dr. Parikh did his best work and told me to let him know if I needed to pause. Would go back regularly if I weren’t temporarily living here!
