Restore Strength and Beauty to Your Smile
Damaged or weakened teeth can make it difficult to eat, speak, or smile with ease. Dental crowns offer a reliable solution to restore both function and appearance. At Johns Creek Dental Studio, we design custom crowns that blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, giving you a stronger, healthier, and more confident smile.
A dental crown is a protective, tooth-shaped cover that fits over the entire visible surface of a tooth. It helps reinforce weakened teeth, repair fractures, or improve the shape and color of a tooth. Each crown is durable, natural-looking, and tailored to match your smile perfectly.
When You May Need a Dental Crown
A crown might be recommended if you have:
- A cracked or fractured tooth
- A large filling that compromises tooth strength
- A tooth that is worn down or weakened
- A tooth with discoloration or irregular shape
- A tooth that has undergone root canal therapy
- A dental implant that requires a protective cap
The Dental Crown Procedure
Examination and Preparation
Your dentist will begin by examining the tooth to confirm that a crown is the best treatment. X-rays may be taken to assess the tooth’s structure. Then, the tooth is carefully reshaped to make room for the crown.
Impressions
Next, an impression of the prepared tooth is taken to ensure a perfect fit. This mold is sent to a dental lab where your custom crown is crafted. A temporary crown is placed to protect your tooth while the permanent one is made.
Crown Placement
Once your permanent crown is ready (usually within a couple of weeks), you’ll return for the second appointment. The temporary crown is removed, and the new one is tested for fit, bite, and color. It’s then securely bonded using strong dental cement.
Final Adjustments
Your dentist will make minor adjustments to ensure your bite feels natural and comfortable. Once complete, your new crown restores strength, function, and appearance—leaving your smile looking and feeling great!
